Cover Memo

How time flies!  A semester have passed in a twinkle, the longing summer break is approaching. I can re member the first day of class as if it were yesterday.  Looking backward to so many things happened during the past five months, I suddenly felt I grew up quickly from the series of problems I had met and I had learned so many things.
In the beginning of the semester, I had a lot of trouble when Professor Turnipseed asks us to pick a topic for the whole semester. I am majoring in business marketing and I do not have a clear idea about what I want to be in the future. Therefore I chose what I like in my life – chocolate! While researching for a good topic about chocolate, I found out we are on a chocolate shortage and I decide to write about it more.  The greatest challenge I faced when I was writing my blogs and essays was not enough resource. Chocolate shortage is a relatively new issues, and very few people are aware of it. I widened up the scope of my research; I introduced the history of chocolate and the process of making chocolate. Beside the causes and solutions of chocolate shortage, I also talked about the lives of cocoa farmers. If I have more time, I would spend it on research more about the solution of chocolate shortage, because I think it is the first thing people want to know when they decide to help.

Procrastination is another struggle that I suffer the whole semester (and my whole life). It is one of the biggest reasons why assignments get a bad mark or are incomplete. I knew I can complete the assignments well but I always keep putting off until the due dates.  When I procrastinate I don’t learn much, the quality of work suffers, and I get stressed out. For next semester, I set up a schedule for all my course work and I will not procrastinate anymore!!!

I had a great time taking this class with Professor Turnispeed. She gave us a lot of writing assignments to practice our researching and writing skills. My favorite activity in this class was peer reviewing classmates’ blogs and papers. I found it very interesting to know what others are writing about and also their opinions about my work. I think peer reviewing can help me get more ideas on my topic. Professor Turnispeed also provided us an opportunity to use WordPress to post blogs. I think WordPress is a great English writing leaning tool. It not only gave us a space to post and share our work, we can also customize the pages themes to fit our topics. I think writing blog and post it online is more interesting than writing essay and turn it in.

I really learned a lot from this class and I believe I can use the skills that I leaned in this class in the future.
